Saint Barthélemy has become an attractive and dynamic island and its population has doubled in twenty years. The increase from a population of 6800 in 1999 to over 9500 in 2020 (≈ + 40% in 15 years), has had direct effects:
- increasing domestic demand;
- the increase in the number of primary and secondary or occasional residences, vehicles on the road, restaurants in operation, shops and accommodation for residential and tourist purposes.
Five major economic sectors dominate: tourism, construction and public works, real estate, trade and commercial services, which today account for more than half of the jobs in the region.
The CEM has the authority to issue professional cards for real estate activities under the Hoguet Act.
In application of this law, Article 3 of Law 70-9 of 2 January 1970, the CEM issues professional cards, prior declaration receipts and collaborator attestations for the exercise of the activities of :
